Rijeka Trebižat je desna pritoka rijeke Neretve. Tok rijeke nalazi se u izrazito kraškom području, zbog čega dolazi do poniranja vode duž korita. Na svom ulasku na teritorij općine Ljubuški rijeka ima ime Tihaljina. Tu prima najveće vrelo koje je stalnog karaktera i velike izdašnosti, vrelo Klokun. Nizvodno od Kavazbašina mosta (Klobuk), Tihaljina dobiva naziv Mlade i pod tim imenom protječe kroz Ljubuško polje. Rijeka Mlade sa lijeve strane prima povremeni vodotok Grabovo vrelo i stalni vodotok Vriošticu. Nakon prolaska ispod mosta na Humcu, rijeka dobiva naziv Trebižat. Trebižat na svom toku ima samo jednu stalnu pritoku Studenčicu.

U 15. stoljeću obitelj Kosača vladala je područjem Huma (Hercegovina) i bila je jedna od najmoćnijih plemićkih obitelji u Kraljevini Bosni. Postoje pretpostavke da je obitelj dobila ime po selu Kosač u blizini rijeka Pive i Tare. Utjecaj i moć Kosače mogu se vidjeti za vrijeme prvog bosanskog kralja Tvrtka I.
