The guard Herceg Stjepan Kosača Lubuss

Lubussa is the honor guard of the town of Ljubuški. It was founded on November 24, 2017. The members of the guard were dressed as knights, as did the guard of Herceg Stjepan Kosača, who had been watching over Ljubuški for years. It is part of the "Thematic Routes of the Medieval Herzegovinian Country - Theme of the Middle Ages", a project of cross-border cooperation between BiH and Montenegro, which encourages socio-economic development. The association currently inherits and manages the rich equipment and costumes of the medieval guard "Herceg Stjepan". The guard, which consists of 10 costumed and armed guys, has certain certificates of authenticity, thanks to the relevant literature as well as the visualization of equipment and costumes in analog museum collections (Dubrovnik, Konavle; Kotor, Sarajevo-National Museum).

In the 15th century, the Kosača family ruled the area of Hum (Herzegovina) and was one of the most powerful noble families in the Kingdom of Bosnia. There are assumptions that the family was named after the village of Kosač near the Piva and Tara river. The influence and power of Kosača can be seen during the time of the first Bosnian king Tvrtko I.
