Stolac Tarča

Stolac Tarča is a medieval fair, the only one of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The organizer of the fair is the historical unit Knights of Duke Stjepan Kosača Stolac. It has been held since 2015, at the beginning of May, in the old town of Vidoški above Stolac, a national monument of BiH, the revitalization of which is one of the main goals of the fair organizers. Knight groups from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Slovakia took part in the fair, and every year the Defense of the Herzegovinian City is staged. Visitors have access to archery, fencing, ceramics, etc. workshops, medieval and renaissance dances and performances. Every year, the cultural and entertainment event attracts more and more knight groups from various countries. The number (knights) is growing, but also the number of domestic volunteers (roles of lepers, guards, jailers, prisoners). From year to year it records more and more visitors, but also guests from abroad, whose number exceeds several thousand. The fair has become a brand of Stolac and the entire Herzegovinian country.

In the 15th century, the Kosača family ruled the area of Hum (Herzegovina) and was one of the most powerful noble families in the Kingdom of Bosnia. There are assumptions that the family was named after the village of Kosač near the Piva and Tara river. The influence and power of Kosača can be seen during the time of the first Bosnian king Tvrtko I.
