Bregava (old name Vidoštica or Vidov's river) is a left confluent of river Neretva in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Passing through Stolac, it creates falls and waterfalls, flows on different levels creating river islands. Indented coast enables access to water in multiple places, offering the inhabitants a special connection to the river. River islands serve for gardens, swimming areas and residences. Downstream from a residence of Begovina there is a waterfall Provalije. From the Middle Ages until today, 15 bridges have been built in Stolac, 10 of which are historic buildings. Mills with grain mills and stupe for rolling, washing and dyeing cloth were built on Bregava from the 15th century. Until World War II, the life of the citizens of Stolac depended significantly on Bregava, given that it housed commercial facilities that ensured the lives of the inhabitants. In Stolac, 12 units with mills and stupe have been preserved, completely or in ruins. Today in Stolac there are three large stone bridges and four smaller ones, all of which are in use and in relatively good condition. Although they differ in size, conception, age, details, etc., they are connected by a common feature, that they are all detachments of the achievements of local masters. Today we find the following bridges in Stolac: the bridge in Begovina, the Bridge of Sara Kašiković, the Inat Bridge, the Port Bridge, the New Bridge, the Bridge near Šarić's summer house, the Bridge for Ada Access, the Bridge near the Podrad Mosque, the Podgrad Bridge, and the Bridge in the Field.
